New EPA rules
The EPA has ruled that contractors who perform renovation,
repairs, and painting must train and re-certify in lead-safe work
practices before renovating older housing. These strict new EPA
rules take effect April 22, 2010.
New certification is required for all home improvement activity
that disturbs more than 6 square feet of interior or 20 square feet of
exterior lead paint in housing built before 1978, and in any
child-occupied facility.
