EPA on the Warpath!
Greetings;
EPA has been rather busy enforcing the RRP provisions, check out this press release from EPA that details violations in Maine, New Jersey and Nebraska. Maine seems to be a hotbed for RRP violators. Hmmm…
The fines range from $1,500 to $ 10,000 and could change based on “a company or individual’s ability to pay a penalty”. BTW, these penalties are issued consistent with EPA’s Consolidated Enforcement Response and Penalty Policy (August 2010).
A common theme in each of these and other RRP violations to date has been a lack of worker training and adequate use of lead safe work practices. These go hand in hand, of course, and are relatively easy to accomplish. EEA provides a great lead awareness course for site staff that will meet EPA, HUD & OSHA training requirements. We’ve also added a perk to most of our RRP courses that should help jump start effective lead safe work practices.
Register for one of our upcoming Renovator sessions and receive a FREE lead hazard control cleanup kit! Valued at over $75.00, this professionally prepared kit contains the secret to effective lead hazard control cleanup. While supplies last…
